Despite having one of the smallest budgets in Ligue 1, Stade Brestois 29 has pulled off the greatest underdog story in Europe for the 2023-24 season by qualifying for UEFA’s elite club competition. Given their unlikely success, Stade Brestois' head coach, Eric Roy, was given the Ligue 1 Coach of the Year Award.
